Contract Worth $20 million With RCA Records

At the end of 1980, Ross decided to leave Motown Records after working with them for twenty years where she received $250,000 as a severance. Then in 1981, she was offered a $20 million worth contract by RCA Records for seven years which gave her all the control the production of her album. Ross signed the deal on May 20, 1981, which was music history's most expensive recording deal.

Donated $250,000 to Built A Park

The 'Phenomenon' performer Diana Ross supports five Elton John AIDS Foundation, Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center, United Service Organization, and others. 

In 1983, Ross did a free concert around Central Park that would be live to build a playground there. But due to some weather disturbance she couldn't perform in some areas so she handed a check of $250,000 to Ed Koch, New York City then-mayor to built Diana Ross Playground that is located in Central Park.
