Murphy had an estimated net worth of $85 million in 2017, which has now reached a peak of $160 million. In 2014, his movies grossed around $3.8 billion in US and Canada while grossed over $6.6 billion worldwide.

Constructed A House In $20 Million

In 2007, Murphy and his ex-wife Nicole Mitchell sold their Granite Bay, California house at $6.1 million. While in 2018, the new house owner listed the house at $10 million but sold it on auction for about half of the sale price at $5.5 million. 

The mansion stands on 12,600-square-foot of land that includes seven bedrooms, eleven bathrooms, a guest house, a theater, five fireplaces, a swimming pool, and other amazing features.

He also owns a house in Beverly Hills since 2001, and paid $10 million for 3.7-acre property. Murphy constructed a custom Classical Italianate style mansion inside the property which occupied 40,000 square feet of land. The mansion cost around $20 million for complete construction.

The 'Harlem Nights' actor house includes nine bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a large outdoor pool, tennis court, a two-story library, play areas for his children, and also made a detached guest house of 5,200 square foot with two suits. He has Denzel Washington, Rod Stewart and other celebrities as his neighbors in the Beverly Hills house.

Prince Akeem from 'Coming to America' has played almost sixty movies, but among them his highest-grossed movie is 'Shrek 2' where he has done voice acting as the donkey. 

The movie was made on a budget of $150 million and was released in 2004, but made a huge profit of $928 million from its worldwide collections.

Earned $17 Million From Shrek Sequel

In 2001, Murphy earned a salary of $3 million from his movie 'Shrek' for voice acting as Donkey. Then he earned a huge salary of $10 million from its sequel 'Shrek 2' in 2004. For the third part of the movie 'Shrek Forever After back end bonus', Murphy earned $4 million. 

Deal Of $25 million With Paramount 

The 'The Nutty Professor' actor has signed a deal with Paramount pictures for six films worth $25 million in 1983. According to the contract, Murphy played in six Paramount movies which are 'Dreamgirls', 'Meet Dave' (2008), 'Imagine That' (2009), 'Norbit', 'Shrek the Third', and 'Vampire in Brooklyn'.

Divorce Settlement and Child Support 

Murphy married Nicole Mitchell in 1993 and has given birth to 4 daughters and 1 son from their thirteen years of marriage. In August 2015, Mitchell filed for divorce against Murphy for irreconcilable differences and after one year on April 17, 2006, their divorce was finalized. Following their separation, Murphy paid $15 million in their divorce settlement to Mitchell.

He then stayed in a relationship with Melanie Brown with whom he had a daughter named Angel. Murphy denied about being the father of Angel but later a paternity test proved that and he has to pay $51,000 in child support to Brown till Angel turns 18 which will be more than $10 million.

Legal incident

An American Humorist, Art Buchwald sued Eddie Murphy and Paramount Pictures alleging that they used his idea of the screenplay, which was submitted for Paramount as the basis for Murphy's film 'Coming to America' in 1988. Then in 1992, Buchwald was given $150,000 in a summary judgment and $750,000 to his producing partner Alan Bernheim.

Donated $100,000 to Screen Actors' Guild

Murphy supports the various foundation and charities like Screen Actors Guild Foundation, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, The HollyRod Foundation, and others. He has donated various funds to the foundations as well as to cancer, education, creative arts, Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, family support, health, and homeless charities. The 'Mr. Chruch's actor has donated $100,000 as a strike relief fund to Screen Actors' Guild.
